One day a woman was curling her hair. She had just taken the curls down only to realize that her bobby pin can was empty. How in the world did this happen? Where did all the bobby pins go? She had never expected that they would get lost so quickly, but because she didn’t keep track of them when she really needed them they were nowhere to be found.
We all hate giving pieces of our life away to people who will not appreciate those pieces. Giving takes time and dedication. Time is money in the society we live in. When we give to people who just don’t care we feel rejected and abandoned. I would like to relate the analogy of lost booby pins to the pieces of our hearts that we give away, and don’t realize it. I would like to especially relate this article to the pieces of our heart given away that belong to God.
So many times God wants to do a work in our heart. God wants to heal us and make us whole, but we neglect to give him the time of day. We say that God is the most important part of our lives, but it is a lie. We say that God means the most, but it is a lie. We would rather spend our time updating our Facebook status and stalking people on Facebook than actually be in the presence of God. Being in His presence is scary, because then we might actually have to change some things.
As a woman, I am sure that you understand the misfortune of misplacing and loosing bobby pins. It always happens at the worst times too. We are scheduled to go to church or conference and right when we need the bobby pins to prop those beautiful curls up they are nowhere to be found. This is the same thing that happens when we give parts of ourselves away that belong to God.
The fact is we give our time, thoughts, and pieces of our heart away too easily and quickly. We allow people to influence us more than we allow God to influence us. We allow situations, emergencies, and seemingly urgent demands to control our life. We need to get to the place where the voice of God is stronger than all else. We need to get to the place where we are not participating in idolatry, but actually serving and sitting at the feet of the One and only true God.
If you do not spend time getting to know God on an intimate, personal, and close level you will be found in want. The tests and trials will come, and that is why it is so important to build daily with God. God will always be there for us, but to what magnitude could He be there for us if we actually put Him first in everything that we do and say? How much more of an impact could we have in our world if God actually was our everything?
In conclusion, you cannot pin your hair up without bobby pins. It is frustrating and annoying to try to use other methods. It leaves you in chaos and confusion. God wants the little pieces you have been letting go by the wayside. God wants to take those little heart bobby pins and use them for His glory. God wants to heal you, and restore covenant back with you. Will you allow Him to speak into your life? Will you allow him to work in the deepest, darkest, and most secretive parts in your life? If you will, he is ready and waiting right now for the journey to begin.
