Rev. Crystal August 14, 2012 0 comments

My name is Crystal (Micko) Schmalz, and I am a licensed minister with the UPCI. I received my general ministerial license with the MO district in April of 2012. I am a Master of Divinity student at Urshan Graduate School of Theology where I served as the student body president from 2010-2012. I am currently a resident hospital chaplain. I feel a call to pastoral administration and care, preaching, and writing Oneness Pentecostal literature. I have decided to write a blog for women in ministry, and I will daily try to post my thoughts about some of the things women face in ministry. I hope you will be encouraged and blessed by this blog. When I first began my quest in ministry, I was a teenager. I never dreamed God would call me to pastor or preach. I never dreamed God would use every part of my life for his glory and for his purpose. When I was twelve years old I felt an incredible call toward the ministry. I thought I would become a missionary to Japan or South America. Little did I know God was preparing my footsteps to enter these countries in only a few short years. Maybe God calls us in steps and stages. The grand finale of our life may not necessarily be everything we could dream up in the right here and now. I did travel to Japan as a teenager, and I lived in Mexico when I was in my early twenties. I was able to learn much from the people in these countries, and learned much about reliance on the Spirit of God. A woman who feels called to the ministry must learn first to rely on the Spirit of God. There can be many obstacles, but a firm foundation in the work and life of the Spirit holds one steady when the winds and storms rage.
