Hope in the Storm

Life can be tough. There are situations which bring us to face questions we never dreamed of facing. There are times when we feel hopeless, worn down, and tired. In these times, we must reach out to Jesus. Jesus is the hope in our storm.

I’ve sat with many people over the past couple of years as a hospital chaplain. I’ve listened to people searching for reasons and asking the big questions of “Why?” I have been there when the bad news hits. I have been there for the tears. And yet, somehow in these situations, there is a hope. We never have to give up on our hope. We never have to be hopeless.

As you think about your situation today, no matter where you are at in life, find your hope. Hope is powerful. Hope helps us get through the storms of life. Hope is our strength and fortress when we feel weak and burdened down. Hope is our comforter. Hope is our protector. Hope is our healer.

And, hope goes beyond this world. As Christians, we have a hope in a world beyond here. We have a hope in an eternity with God. There is this place the Bible speaks of, a place of mansions and beauty. It is a place where pain, hurt, and sin do not exist. It is a place of refuge. It is a place of wonderful peace. It is our reward, and it pulls us forward. Hope. Hope pulls us forward.
